Missreading

I was trying to come up with an insult for the new logo for the Sci-Fi Channel. Couldn't think of anything.

Then, out of the corner of my eye, I started misreading it -- as if there's a kerning error and the "r" is just too close to the "F." Here, I've "corrected" the kerning with a bad Photoshop job.

I believe you've anticipated the new logo for NPR's Science Friday!

I, too, dislike the new name and logo for Sci Fi. I can't help reading it as "siffy."

The name seems very self-conscious and overwrought to me.

"Siffy" -- that's a good one.

There's something about that spelling (SyFy) that is repellent to me. Makes me want to rebel against saying it the "proper" way.

While they were looking for alternate spellings I wonder if they considered "Sigh-fahi"?
